Digital Beti Introduction

The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn has disproportionately impacted women who have faced job losses and have taken up increased household and childcare responsibilities. This situation is further exacerbated for rural women, who have lower access to the internet and lack digital literacy. CSC Academy has partnered with Facebook for Digital Beti, an initiative to transform the lives of women in rural areas by equipping them with digital skills to become entrepreneurs5,000 Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), as Master Trainers, have trained over 250,000 rural entrepreneurs on digital skills in over 300 districts across 10 Indian states.Among the vast pool of 3.6 lakh CSCs, 5,000 women-owned and managed CSCs have joined hands with the Central CSC to run this program on the ground by mobilizing their state teams and village level entrepreneurs.

Objectives of Digital Beti:

  • To Reduce the Digital Gender Gap in Rural Areas
  • To Introduce Online Tools at the Local Grassroot Level
  • To Uplift the Rural Economy through Job Creation
  • To Connect Job Seekers and Small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) at the Local Level
  • To Create a Multiplier Effect by enabling Women to train other Women

Due to COVID-19, a digital approach has been adopted to imparting trainings 100% online. This has been done using the Digital Beti Portal, WhatsApp Chabot and Facebook tools and features.
